Michigan, where he was cellar master for a local winery. Looking to
expand his knowledge, he moved to what he considered the heart of the
American wine industry, California’s Napa Valley.Searching for a winery that practiced the kind of natural winegrowing
that he wanted to learn, Dave joined Grgich Hills Estate in spring 2005.
Starting as vineyard assistant to Ivo Jeramaz, Vice President of
Vineyards and Production, Dave learned from Ivo and also completed
viticulture and enology classes at University of California, Davis, Napa
Valley College and studied at the Josephine Porter Institute for Applied
Biodynamics and with Dennis Klocek at the Rudolf Steiner College in
Sacramento, California. Today, he is Vineyard Manager, responsible for
all of Grgich Hills’ 366 acres of certified organic and Biodynamic
