2011 SUMMER POTLUCK!!

“Healthy nutritious food should not be an elitist privilege; it should be an inalienable right. Agriculture touches everything. Every thing we ingest has a consequence, a consequence to our physical being, a reverse consequence to the soil that food was grown in and everything in between and beyond. Each decision we make in the process of buying and eating food enforces a specific paradigm.” – AARON LUCICH

Namaste!!!

After much consideration, we have decided to have our meeting on Saturday, August 27. It will begin at 2pm and will wrap up around 5 or so. People are welcome to stick around and mingle with our special guests, Mark McAfee, Founder & CEO of Organic Pastures ( http://www.organicpastures.com)and Raw Milk Genius who created Americas first Raw Milk Safety Standards, Aaron Lucich, Film maker () sustainable farmer and food activist and Chris Kerston, Sales Manager of Chaffin Family Orchards ( http://www.chaffinfamilyorchards.com/) and Sustainable Farmer. These gentlemen know an awful lot about food and farming and the importance of soil fertility, which effects our food and our health. It’s almost dangerous how much they know and its a privilege for us to have all three of them in one place! They will all give talks on the topic of their choice and you will be free to pick their brains during and after the speeches.

IF YOU AREN’T SURE ABOUT THE SAFETY OF RAW MILK AND ITS NUMEROUS BENEFITS, YOU DON’T WANT TO MISS THIS! SCHOOL WILL BE IS SESSION!

SATURDAY, AUGUST 27
12750 LEO LANE, WILTON, CA 95693
2PM-5PM

Our potluck will run very similar to the Grass Valley WAPF potluck. They break up the food into categories based on the first letter of your last name. This makes for a very wide variety of foods and makes it a lot easier to decide what to bring unless you have a dish you are dying to share. Here is the breakdown..

If your last name begins with___, please bring……

A-E – A Pastured Meat Dish
F-J- Soaked, Sprouted or Soured Grain Dish or Bread
K-N- Nourishing Traditions Desert
O-R- Veggie, Salad or something fermented
S- Creme Fraiche or Raw Butter
T-Z- Nourishing Traditions Style Beverage

Bring enough food for 8 people. Bring appropriate locally grown seasonal dishes. The purpose of the potluck is to share recipes from the cookbook, Nourishing Traditions, which follows the principles of nutrient dense foods eaten by the healthy cultures researched by our buddy, Dr. Weston A. Price.

If you have any questions regarding the breakdown of the potluck or anything at all, please do not hesitate to contact me, Marcus Muñoz @ 916-715-0060/ marcus3000.

Feel free to invite anyone who you think might enjoy our potluck and listening to our speakers. The purpose of these gatherings are to learn and learning is what you will get after listening to our guest speakers. It is rare to having a group of gentlemen as dynamic as Mark, Aaron and Chris in one place, so please feel free to share with everyone you and take full advantage of the knowledge and expertise that we will have visiting us in Wilton on August 27.

FEEL FREE TO FORWARD THIS EMAIL TO ANYONE! THIS INCLUDES ANYONE INTERESTED IN FOOD AND NATURAL HEALTH AND ANYONE WHO WORKS IN THE HEALTH FIELD.

IF YOU ARE A MEMBER OF ANOTHER WAPF CHAPTER, PLEASE FEEL FREE TO SHARE THIS EMAIL/INVITE WITH OTHER CHAPTERS!!!

Fourteen Dietary Guidelines from Nourishing Traditions Cookbook

In order to assure that our potlucks truly reflect the findings of Dr. Weston Price, we would like to remind participants of the following dietary guidelines. We use:
1. Meat, poultry, eggs and dairy from pastured animals

2. Fish wild-caught, not farmed

3. Full-fat raw milk and other raw and/or cultured dairy products

4. Animal fats, especially butter and only traditional oils: sesame, olive, coconut, palm kernel and other tropical oils

5. We do not use canola oil, soybean oil and other modern engineered chemically extracted vegetable oils.

6. Butter, lard and coconut oil are even better for cooking.

7. Fresh, seasonal, organic fruits and vegetables in salads, soups or steamed with lots of butter

8. Whole grains, nuts and seeds prepared by soaking, sprouting or sour leavening (fermentation) to neutralize phytic acid and enzyme inhibitors

9. Since eating soy causes so many health problems, we do not eat soy unless it is fermented, such as miso, tempeh, natto, and raw fermented tamari called shoyu

10. With our meals, we eat lacto-fermented vegetables (sauerkraut, kim chi) and lacto-fermented beverages (ginger ale, kombucha)

11. Soups, sauces and gravies made with homemade bone stocks, rich in minerals and gelatin

12. Unrefined natural salt, such as Celtic sea salt

13. We avoid commercial salad dressings. We make our own from such ingredients as olive oil, raw vinegar, egg yolks, raw cream, crème fraiche and lemon

14. Natural sweeteners such as honey, maple syrup and Rapadura sugar, used in moderation
