The summer is flying by and we will be coming into a new season soon. Laurie’s Family Fun Camp in July was relaxing and fun-filled. It was good to meet new spiritual friends as well as new challenges like following Laurie on a hike to the cascading waterfall pools.
New ventures are coming up in the Fall so stay tuned. I am seeking a qualified Course in Miracles teacher to lead a study group. Several people have requested it. I’ll send an announcement as soon as all is arranged.
Keep Saturday October 16 open for our all day Holistic Meditation Workshop with Eugene Alliende, Marilyn Nutter, Shari Anderson and yours truly. Each one of us will be sharing our favorite meditation practice. You will learn and practice meditations to strengthen mind, heart, body, and soul.
I have also applied to the the Seminary to become a Sophia School of Wisdom. When approved, SWOW will be able to offer several classes for credit as well as participate in new learning opportunities. After certification is granted sometime in the Fall, we will begin classes at the center.
Take a peak below for the Sophia’s Well of Wisdom events this month and join us as often as you can. You can download the calendar by going to www.sophiaswell.org/Calendar.html.
Meets Sunday mornings at 10 a.m.
The theme for August is The Spiritual Journey.
Marilyn Nutter, M.A.
Patterned after this work, we will study the spiritual drama of the journey in three acts:
Marilyn Nutter, MA will officiate the Wisdom Circle on August 29th where she will lead us back home from our divine adventure to a life of loving service. Bill and I will be taking a short vacation that week, a little journey of our own. Marilyn is well equipped to lead the class with insights from the many journeys she has studied and experienced.
|Spiritual Practice Circles
Thursday morning from 9:30 – 11 a.m.
Spiritual practice is an important part of the the seekers life. There are many types of spiritual practice. At SWOW we seek practices that support a holistic spiritual life of body, heart, mind, and soul. We begin the month on the first Thursday with a meditation that supports development of the Soul-infused Personalityfollowed by a World Healing Meditation.
Rev. Patsy Walker Fine
On the second Thursday we participate in Body-based meditationtechniques that inspire “embodied spirituality.”
On the third Thursday we practice compassionate speaking and listening from the heart in a Sophia Circle.
The fourth Thursday we practice different methods of psycho-spiritual meditations. Currently we are using a chakra balancing meditation using Anodea Judith’s Eastern Bodies Western Minds: Psychology and the Chakra System as a Path to the Self. This month we study expressions of the fifth chakra.
On months where there are five Thursdays, we endeavor to follow the old dictum, Know Thyself, by exploring different methods of spiritual assessment.
Reiki Healing CircleMonday August 9 from 6 – 8:30 p.m.
The Circle will be held at SWOW/Motherlode Holistic Connection, 8 Court Street, Jackson.
Reiki is a spiritual energy healing method that affects every level of the human experience: physical, emotional, and mental.
We currently gather on the second Monday of the month from 6 – 8:30 p.m. Starting with energy-active meditations to activate our healing hands, we then move to the massage table to begin sharing Reiki with each other one at a time. After each person is complete, we return to the group to extend the healing to the world. Personal Reiki healing work is from 6- 8 p.m. and World Healing Meditation is from 8 – 8:30 p.m. You may come to one or both sessions.
(The Reiki Healing Circle is a community service; as such there is no fee. However, one may make a donation that will go in full to a local Amador County charity. Past recipients are Interfaith Food Bank, Hospice, Operation CARE, A-PAL, STARS, Christmas to Remember. Sometimes donations go directly to a local family in need when such a need is known.)
Inner Light Circle
Monday August 16 at 6:30 p.m.
The Inner Light Circle is offered to challenge our minds to expand in new ways. As such, it is for serious-minded spiritual students on the transcendent path. Various formats are used to present stimulating information that challenges the intellect. Ageless wisdom teachings are brought to life in new ways to take us beyond our current stage of human development and remind us that we are “spiritual beings having a human experience” and not the other way around.
We gather Monday the 16th promptly at 6:30 p.m. and close the door at 6:40 p.m. to hear a CD by Artur called: The Circulation of Energy. At the close of the meeting we will pause for a brief silent meditation and then dismiss to ponder on what we heard.
There is no fee; however, donations are appreciated to support the work of SWOW.
Trust What You Hear!
Saturday August 21, 2:30 – 5 p.m.
Join Laurie Story Vela and Jeremiah for a fun-filled time with children of all ages, “where you’re never to young to pray and never to old to play.”
Activities include music, singing, stories, prayer, games, crafts, dancing, and so much more. This is an intergenerational interfaith event, so come prepared to join the sacred place where we are all young at heart.
This is a community event to support families; as such, there is no pre-set fee. However, donations are needed to support the event, so love offerings are appreciated.
Thanks for supporting the work of Sophia’s Well of Wisdom. Your participation, contributions, and/or prayerful support are much appreciated to extend the work of preparing humanity for the shifting energies of the ending of one age and the beginning of another.
