Huge Chance TODAY to Stop the Water Bond

Urgent! Call your legislator today: Scrap the bond, don’t postpone it!

Dear Restore the Delta Supporters,

Yesterday, the governor saw the writing on the wall and asked the legislature to postpone the $11 billion water bond to the 2012 ballot. He wants to do whatever he can to get the bond passed, even if it means waiting two years. This decision could be made today. Can you tell your legislators to scrap the bond, not postpone it?

Moving the bond to 2012 won’t make its impact on the budget any less terrible or its impact on our Delta any less unfair. Now or in 2012, the bond is a handout to corporate interests that want more control over California’s water. The legislature should scrap the bond altogether, not put it off.

Please call your state senator and assembly member TODAY with this message: “The water bond is bad for the budget and for California’s water, now or in 2012. I want you to scrap the water bond, not postpone it.”

This will be a very close vote and every call makes a huge difference. Please take 2 minutes to make this important call. That’s the only way we can counter the powerful special interest lobby behind the bond.
