The Backyard Beekeeping classes originally scheduled for March 4th & 11th have been rescheduled to March 11th and 25th.

This year’s UCCE Amador County Master Gardener Backyard Beekeeping class will be given on two Thursday evenings, March 11th and 25th from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Amador Co. GSA building, 12200-B Airport Rd in Sutter Hill. The focus of this class will be on providing start-up and intermediate beekeepers with information on hive management. The first class will begin with a brief overview of the honeybee colony structure and the importance of honeybees in the human food chain. The rest of the two sessions will be devoted to hive placement, mitigating pests and diseases and managing bees for honey production and pollination. The primary instructors will be Sean and Diane Kriletich, each with over twenty years of beekeeping experience.
